Abstract

Myocarditis usually causes left or biventricular dilatation and impaired ventricular systolic function. The most significant arrhythmia associated with myocarditis is ventricular tachyarrhythmia. Myocarditis has also been suspected as a cause of otherwise unexplained ventricular ectopy. Myocarditis has long been suspected as a cause of sudden death in healthy young people. Myocarditis is a well-recognized cause of sustained ventricular tachycardia, and should always be considered in the differential diagnosis of unexplained ventricular tachyarrhythmia. We report on a patient without a history of previous cardiac surgery or structural heart disease, who presents with ventricular tachycardia and heart failure. The patient shows various types of ventricular arrhythmia. The myocardial function improves significantly within two weeks of treatment.
